I thought, how cool it would be to have a box made of plexiglas.... just so I could see the GUTS.... and thats what clear sides are all about today. Glad there's designers out there that like what I like. Keep up the good work!!

Personally I don’t have any preference for the appearance of my cases. I go for functionality! If the sides don’t open easily or the front USB ports aren’t easily accessible, I say forget it. If this yellow case has all the features I want, I would say it is worth it.

except that YM is basically out of business (they are in liquidation), as of about a month ago. cool concept, but there are lots of NAS boxes on the market now (many with hot-plug drive bays, 2-4 drive models), at competitive pricing for home/smb buyers. add to that things like FreeNAS and other open-source projects, and you really can do it yourself.

OK, I don't know WHO likes neon glowing or clear cases with horribly flashy glowing power supplies or colored RAM...

Me? I like how freakin slick and cool Apple desktops look. You cannot find a PC from any company that looks anywhere near as cool as any of the Apple computers, both laptop and desktop.

Seriously, when are computer makers going to pull their heads out of the a** and realize that people want classy, well-made computers?

I want one of these yellow boxes.

The box does matter. I see boxes that people see something coming out of without a clue why. It is good to see the inner workings (with a little glow) to at least know there is something there other then your, telephone line, cable or a squirrel in a cage. We are all visual or TV wouldn't be the biggest thing since sliced bread. Sometimes you get a good box for your money, sometimes you get a junk box for your money (at least you can finance it). However, if it looks good, at least you can enjoy looking at it.

I build custom systems in a home based shop, and it all depends on what the customer wants. If that box (case) looks good in the room they are putting it in then they like it. If it looks like something back in the days of Pentiums all white and no modern eye appeal they say it is a cheap computer no matter what is on the inside making it work.
Physical attributes are everything when deciding if it is a new computer or an old one to the modern consumer. If you take an old car and installed all new engine and drive train new paint (but original colors) all new suspension and interior it would still be an old car in the eyes of the modern consumer. And the same applies to someone who takes old components and places them in a new chassis, they can not tell until they fire it up and see the performance. ike taking a Model T engine and putting it in a new Corvet Chassis. It may start up fine but driving it down the driveway will be a different story.
Clear sided panels are only good for showing off the major components in your custom desk top rocket machine. Bragging rights come with the show case.
