Fedora Core 6 is OUT!

Fedora The Fedora Project just released Fedora Core 6, the latest Linux distro (until Ubuntu Edgy Eft comes out later this week, anyway). It’s popular enough that it immediately got so many downloads that their servers buckled under the strain. They’re still working to get them back, but it’s easy enough to get yourself an ISO from torrents.

Features include:

  • Latest versions of Gnome and KDE
  • Latest updates of Open Office
  • New Kernel management, no more having to choose an SMP kernel or a regular one
  • Broswers? Comes with Firefox, Opera, Konqueror, to name just three. More programs are avialable for this monster than you could shake a stick at.
  • Updates for the OS, and also for every program on the computer are available with one single click. Let’s see Windows Update try that.
  • Easy installation in minutes. How easy? My 60-something mom was able to install version 5 in less than 15 minutes.
