I have a question…
I know that I have had my share of USB problems, which I thought all went away! Furthermore, if anyone has found a Vista HP (HP LaserJet 1018) driver, let the world know.
I can’t print with Vista! HP said, ‘Vista hasn’t been released, Sir.’
C’mon!

I had a similar problem with my usb devices there then not there, in my case it was that the connection between the cable into the port was becoming loose from my constant tinkering with the pc case i.e. plugging and unplugging external devices. I fixed my problem by using a powered hub that is imobile and never needs to be diconnect from it’s devices or the pci usb card it’s plugged into.
I have run into this problem but only when using the front ports or ports from an add-on to the motherboard. try using the ports that are soldered (usually rear ports) on your system. and if you have to have the ports in the front get a powered USB hub.

Found a solution to the Vista 1018 driver problem:
1. Install the XP driver, by pointing Windows at the folder - C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\LaserJet 1018 Drivers\
2. Adjust Permissions in the printer’s Properties window to let EVERYONE manage the printer, etc. That seems to help …
I haven’t done much with it yet outside of a test clean, but it’s at least doing something now, online before when it would just blink on and off or give error messages.
Hope this helps …
