There are several other types of lenses that are available for SLR cameras that will give you the tools to take amazing photos. If you can see yourself becoming more involved in macrophotography, action photography, portraiture or wedding photography, and the best optical quality is needed, then the SLR is your choice. Note that SLR cameras can become considerably more expensive than point-and-shoot cameras.

If you want a simple, easy-to-use camera, then a point-and-shoot camera may be the better choice for you. The quality of point-and-shoot cameras has increased over the past few years. They enable to user to simply point and click. Unfortunately, they do not allow the use of additional lenses. You also do not have many camera features. Point-and-shoot cameras are great for beginners and for basic photography. If you’re the type of person who does not like to read the manual, and want an easy to use camera – then a point-and-shoot is the best choice for you.
