AppleTV The Next Big Thing From Apple
With Apple’s new multimedia powerhouse AppleTV, there’s always something good on television. With Apple TV, you can enjoy movies, TV shows, music, and podcasts in your iTunes library, plus photos and movie trailers, on your widescreen TV — wirelessly, from either your Mac or PC.
Recently Apple kingpin Steve Jobs discussed the AppleTV: “Let’s examine this in a little more detail. Just like in iTunes you can setup your Apple TV — take my 10 most recent unwatched movies and it’ll automatically stream in the background to Apple TV and be stored on the hard drive. So whenever I go to watch something, they’re there. I can stream wirelessly from five computers. I can watch it from other computers in the house but it’s not stored on the hard drive. PCs or Macs, I just choose the computer of my life.â€
The unit will also have a 40GB hard drive, which equals about 50 hours worth of video. This allows the AppleTV to store content that can be retrieved without bogging down any one computer on the network. Another cool detail is that AppleTV will also allow users the ability to stream content to HDTVs. Users will be able to use AppleTV to buy and download movies and television programming from iTunes and then view that content on their living room HDTV.
Any time day or night, simply download from among the millions of choices on the iTunes Store. Then let Apple TV do the rest. Thanks to the intuitive interface, finding desirable programming is as easy as navigating a few simple menu items using the included Apple Remote. Apple TV automatically grabs the digital media on a personal computer and makes it available to enjoy on television. Best of all, whenever something new is added in iTunes, Apple TV updates automatically.
Partners in Prime Time
Apple has already collaborated with Disney for several months, offering about 100 movies and a number of TV shows for download on iTunes. Apple also recently announced a new partnership with Paramount that puts another 150 movie titles up for purchase on iTunes, bringing the grand total of titles available to 250.
