In NYC you may have to put away your iPod to Cross the Street
Checking out your iPod while crossing the street may soon be a thing of the past according to a Reuters report — and could lead to a $100 fine.
‘New York State Sen. Carl Kruger says three pedestrians in his Brooklyn district have been killed since September upon stepping into traffic while distracted by an electronic device. In one case bystanders screamed “watch out” to no avail.
Kruger says he will introduce legislation on Wednesday to ban the use of gadgets such as Blackberry devices and video games while crossing the street.’
The article goes on to explain that it is the governments responsiblity to protect the public. Uh ha.

They should be doing the opposite. They should just let those people get what they deserve for not looking while crossing the street. It would also mean you cant cross the street with anything in your hands. Who is going to enforce this anyway. Are they going to arrest all the wallstreet guys. Its a lost cause. What they really should be doing is punishing the drivers with heavy fines for speeding or traffic violations, thats whats really killing people in the streets.
