Photog Friday! Introducing Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0
If you’ve never heard of Adobe Photoshop, you have no business working with (or viewing) visual images. The iconic namesake that birthed a veritable sea of imitators, Adobe gets back to it’s roots with Adobe Photoshop Elements 5. There are many, many photo and image editing software options out there, but none are nearly as elegant as Adobe Photoshop. This software combines the different elements of photo editing, management, and sharing capabilities.
This upgrade to the world’s most popular digital photography suites can locate and organize your photo video, and audio files (PDF and Elements creation files, too!) when you initially open the program. It can also automatically fix red-eye and group images that look similar together. This means that all your pictures from a wedding or graduation get filed together, without you having to tediously open and self-assign each jpeg.
Improvements to the Photo Downloader let you acquire images from your camera or mobile phone quickly and uses embedded information to organize and label them via similar dates and events. And every time you insert a CD, Flash Drive, or other removable storage media, Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 can scan it for image files. Another option allows you to group photos by where they were taken—it even allows you to drag and drop them onto a map yourself.
They’ve also improved the photo-editing component of Elements 5. This makes it easy to apply common fixes and borrow more advanced elements from Element’s elder sibling, the venerable Adobe Photoshop. Toned down versions of Photoshop’s powerful editing tools like Adjust Color Curves (Photoshop Senior’s Curves Control) and the Variations tool, an essential tool for rendering powerful black and white effects.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 is also equipped for when you make art from your digital photography. New themed layout options, Flash Web Gallery creations, and tools that let you make scrapbook collages easily are all included. You can even save multi-page layouts as a single file. While the Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 doesn’t support the professional grade CMYK color profile, everything else about this new Adobe add-on is a smash digital photography management hit!
