There’s one thing keeping most of us from getting our hands on a Flat Panel Television—we don’t have a thousand dollars. If we did, we’d probably have to spend it on anything from car repairs to the mortgage payment to giving that thousand dollars back to whoever loaned it to us in the first place. But there’s hope, my low-budget oriented friends: a company called Olevia that creates some impressively high quality LCD flat panels that offer exactly what you need, for less than what you’d expect to pay.
The heavy hitter from Olevia is the 42-Inch LCD TV. It has a native resolution of 720p—enough to display High Definition content as well as standard definition broadcasts. Even though this television easily fits into the bargain category, it still features 2 HDMI inputs. HDMI is the all-digital audio and video connection that you’ll be seeing a lot of in the future. Other useful connections include s-video, as well as a port so you can use this Olevia 42-inch LCD as your computer monitor. And if you don’t like the acoustics with your speakers located at the base of the television screen, they can be relocated to the sides for a more stereo effect. There’s even a USB port so that you can get firmware upgrades via an Internet enabled computer. And there’s the 8ms response time and 1600:1 contrast ratio.
Not quite ready for a 42-inch Monster? Check out the Olevia 227V 27-inch HD LCD TV. This is a much smaller, more compact version of the 42-inch Olevia. Its speakers are mounted right on the side of the display, and it still has a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, but it costs a heck of a lot less. And you won’t miss out on HD programming either—it has a 720p native resolution, just like its older brother. The 227V also has a single HDMI connection, which is key if you like High Definition DVDs or Blu-rays. As if that wouldn’t be enough to convince you, the Olevia 227V has an 8ms response time and a 1600:1 contrast ratio, for excellent viewing quality.
Both these televisions feature Big Picture Technology, an exclusive design inherent to Olevia that actually makes the on-screen picture larger than it would appear on an ordinary display.
This is especially noticeable on analog images, like regular or enhanced definition TV signals, which can appear up to 30% larger. Digital signals can become up to 11% bigger on the Olevia screens, as well.
Another feature that makes an Olevia LCD a great choice for your money is Director’s Image. Director’s Image makes sure that you see content from movies and High Quality television programs exactly as the director intended. This means precision colors and distortion-free images. Olevia LCD TVs do this by providing calibrated 6500k colors and a full range of brightness, contrast, color and tint controls perfect for recreating image quality exactly as it was meant to be.
