Symptom and Cause
DSC-T5 Bottom Casing
Affected Area
With certain DSC-T5 cameras, the metal plating may peel away from the camera body and warp outward.
Sony identified an irregularity during the initial part production, the adhesive strength of the metal coating on this part. As a result, it became more likely that damage to the bottom casing could cause the metal coating to peel away and warp outward.
Affected Cameras
This issue affects only DSC-T5 model Cyber-shot digital still cameras with serial numbers between 3500001 and 3574100.
NOTE: The model and serial number can be found on the sticker on the bottom of the camera.Resolution
Sony will provide free service to replace the affected part for DSC-T5 cameras in the serial number range listed above. Sony will cover all costs associated with shipping.
If your camera falls within the serial range and you paid for an out of warranty repair for this issue, Sony will reimburse you for the cost of replacing the part. If your out of warranty repair was handled by the Sony Service facility in Laredo, Texas, you should receive a check automatically by September 30, 2007.
If you do not receive a check by September 30, 2007, or if you paid for an out of warranty repair through a third party, you may submit a reimbursement request.
