USB 3.0 on the horizon - can you say Optical?

Today at the Intel Developers Forum a new specification for USB 3.0 was released. This new connectivity standard will be completely backwards compatible and enhances the existing connection with some optical, yes - fiber, strands thrown in the mix.

Best part? It will offer ten times the existing bandwidth of USB, which means nearly a 5 Gigabit connection. While it may be some time before we can utilize such a fast connection - I’m sure something will have it slowing down in no time!
