HTC Touch. The Windows Mobile Based Answer to the iPhone.
Everyone and their neighbors are singing the praises of the iPhone, but I promise there’s more than one touch-screen phone out there. While the die-hard stylus zealots may gag when I mention finger-based touch screens, I personally would rather just thumb my way through menus and email than wield an expensive plastic toothpick. Which means I’ve either got to stick with my current ancient brick phone until the iPhone reaches a more affordable price range (for me, it’s about $37.46) or save up my money for an HTC P3450 Touch Unlocked GSM Smartphone.
But wait. Savvy mobile phone enthusiasts (yes, they do exist) may be confused: the HTC Touch is exclusively offered by Sprint! And as anyone who’s ever switched carriers to or from the pin-droppers (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, then I wish I had your hairline) knows, Sprint is woefully without SIM cards. So how can this be an unlocked GSM Smartphone? We can thank our anti-trust loving Europians from across the pond! Yes, this is the Europian version of the HTC Touch. It eats pasta, detests ketchup, and generally favors the adoption of a powerful political and economic union with its international neighbors.
Okay, it loves ketchup. But it does come with a power adapter, that will allow you to recharge the phone inside the lower 48 (or Alaska, Canada, and Hawaii, for that matter). But all kidding aside, this phone gives the iPhone a run for its money: mainly by providing a slew of features as good or better than those found on the Magic Apple.
While the Sprint version of this phone does have 3G Internet connectivity, this one has EDGE technology. A bit slower, but more universally supported, to be sure. Still as good as an iPhone, though. And the onboard camera takes pictures via a 2.0 megapixel image processor, again as good as the i-candy every hipster now has on their…hip. (sorry.)
Other features worth mentioning include a beautiful full-color LCD screen and expansion capabilities via microSD card. The TouchFLO technology integrated into the HTC touch differentiates between light flicks of the finger and more heavy-handed motions, allowing you to interface with your Smartphone in a more natural manner. Plus, it runs Windows Mobile 6, so it’s much more compatible with your email, PC, and other peripherals than an iPhone, not to mention 3rd party software applications.

I own a Htc touch phone. The movies I download to the device
play very chopping. Can you suggest the frame rate, or alternate files. The files they recommend in the manuel unfortunatly are hard to find in the movie list. I use a file converter but still the movies are very choppy.
Can you suggest the best way to view movies on this device?
Thank you for this site!

Hi, I am from Europe and I bought an HTC Touch Sprint in New York. Is it true that I can’t put in a SIM-card? Even not when I unlock it? Thnx for your answer!
