JBL Delivers entry-level home theater: the SCS-145.5 SCS Series

Each of the four satellite speakers comes with its own wall-mount bracket. The center speaker is a bit larger, standing at 3.25 inches high, 7.6 inches wide and 3.75 inches deep.
It’s also heavier, weighing in at around two pounds. Finally, the subwoofer, which measures 13 inches high, 15 inches wide and 14 inches deep, weighs about 30 pounds. Don’t let its compact size fool you–this is one capable speaker system! The JBL SCS-145.5 SCS Series Home Theater Speaker System’s primary strength lies in its 100-watt, 8-inch sub. The bass sounds come out rich and powerful. It provides body to the overall audio experience. Considering this is JBL’s entry-level speaker system, you’ll be surprised at how good it sounds. It is very solid, and makes you feel like you bought something much more high-end.
The satellite speakers sound great as well. They may be miniature in size but the sound they produce definitely is not. The four satellites are full two-way speakers with a 0.5-inch titanium dome tweeter and a 3-inch woofer. The sounds these speakers produce exhibit a level of richness that one might expect from larger speakers. Everything from instrumental guitar music to the most intense movie scores all sound excellent and satisfying. The center speaker is definitely a winner as well. It adds dimension (and extra oomph) to this wonderful speaker package.
Due to its compact profile, the JBL SCS-145.5 SCS Series Home Theater Speaker System is best for those who don’t have a lot of room to spare. Additionally, those with bigger rooms might want to opt for a larger model. But for small to mid-size rooms, this speaker system will do perfectly fine.
In the looks department, the JBL SCS-145.5 SCS Series Home Theater Speaker System also impresses. It’s modern-looking, well-designed and simple at the same time. Its design doesn’t scream for attention, so when you finally hear the way it sounds, you’ll definitely notice.
All things considered, the JBL SCS-145.5 SCS Series Home Theater Speaker System is a bargain. The whole package costs less than $300, but the quality of the sound feels like it’s worth a thousand more.
