In case you didn’t know, we sell DVD movies – some of the best ever made — on TigerDirect.com. And as our resident film buff (I know, everyone claims to be a film freak; we even have a guy here at Tiger who thinks that M. Night Shyamalan has earned the title of the best director alive, while I think he’s a One Trick Pony whose Sixth Sense remains the only truly exceptional film the Midnight Man’s made).
Now, James Mangold’s 3:10 to Yuma starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale is a good, old-fashioned Western morality play that’s almost as good as the 1957 original (a minor classic adapted from an Elmore Leonard novella).
My family’s at war over who’s better in the newer 3:10 to Yuma — Russell Crowe or Christian Bale. Both turn in overpowering performances in this outstanding oater (that’s what fuddy duddies like me used to call Westerns) with a twist.
We sell 3:10 to Yuma at a great price, and you can’t go wrong if you love lots of action, spectacular performances from the two leads, and lots of gunfire. You’ll see plenty of good guys and bad guys, and might not be able to tell the two apart from time to time.
Russell Crowe. Christian Bale. Two big screen giants in the comfort of your home. James Mangold’s 3:10 to Yuma.
I give it a solid 3 stars.
And Midnight Shyamalan — what’s he done lately? The Happening?
