Canon Macro Twin Lite MT-24EXFor all Canon SLR and D-SLR users out there who are into macro-photography, here is a treat from Canon. The Canon Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX, a flash designed for macro-photography which gives you advanced lighting capabilities not available with traditional macro ring flash systems.

Two separate and swiveling flash heads can be manipulated to suit the lighting environment. The flash heads can either be focused on the subject or can be aimed away from the subject or on to bounce cards for softer lighting. There is even the option of removing them from the camera and mounting them on light stands.

Better Flash, Better Pictures

These twin flash heads can be rotated to an 80 degree angle around the camera’s lens. To assist the camera’s auto-focus feature, it comes with incandescent focusing lamps that help illuminate the subject for a more precise auto-focus lock.

Canon Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX Compatibility with all EOS bodies (such as EOS-1D, D60, and D30) allows it to work with digital SLRs with full E-TTL automatic flash control. Additionally, it boasts nine custom functions which add to those already in the camera.

Now, a bit more about the flash itself – the Canon Macro Twin Lite M-24EX comes with a modeling light feature that lets you preview the lighting effect on the subject. The modeling flash has a standard burst (70Hz) that lasts one second. This applies to any EOS body activated with a press of the Unit’s test button. Flash control has the following specs: exposure undergoes Bracketing and is compensated for with either +/-. Slave units with specs of 550EX and 420EX give it a lighting ratio of 8:1 ~ 1:8.

No need to worry about powering up the Canon Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX. All you need is either 4 AA batteries (any of the following are usable: Ni-MH, Lithium, rechargeable Ni-Cd and Alkaline) or an external power source: a Transistor Pack and Compact Battery Pack E or E2.

The Canon Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX certainly answers the lighting needs of those interested in specialized photos and macro-photography.
