Manhunt 2 Reveals One Man’s Horror to Survive
Is the first Manhunt game not disturbing enough for you? Then get a taste of the new and improved Manhunt experience.
Manhunt 2 features some more of that good ol’ ultra-violence we love. It goes without saying that this game isn’t exactly for kids, but with its smorgasbord of unnerving images, even hardcore players won’t be left unshaken.
Get Ready for Some Gore and Guts
In Manhunt 2, you’ll play Dr. Danny Lamb, who manages to escape an asylum thanks to some electrical malfunction. Unfortunately, he doesn’t remember a lot. He doesn’t remember any of the events leading to his imprisonment and eventual escape. However, with the help of his fellow inmate, Leo, and some convenient flashbacks, he is able to solve the mental puzzle that is his memory piece by piece. As he trudges on to find the truth, he later learns that he is involved in a science experiment called “The Project.†It is hard to describe the experience that this game provides through words—although “unsettling†and “troubling†do come close.
His quest isn’t an easy one. To survive, Danny needs to be stealthy. The stealth aspect of this game is where the tension is most obvious. Dark doesn’t even begin to describe the settings. They are dirty, gritty and exude a general sense of malice and pure evil. The audio - from the brooding, minimalist soundtrack - to the whispers you swear you just heard, gets under your skin. It’s simply survival horror to the extreme.
Being sneaky though doesn’t mean that Danny is going to let his enemies off easily. The enemies can be lured into the shadows where he can perform another one of the attractions of this game: the executions. This is the part where squeamish gamers should turn their heads away. The executions in this game are unforgiving and will definitely shock you even if you’ve seen the most violent movies. The Wii’s controller and nunchuck can be swung as if you’re the one who’s holding the weapon.
If you think you can handle a game as grisly as this, then by all means play it. Just don’t tell me you haven’t been warned.
