The Toshiba Qosmio G40C-MM1 Notebook is being pitched as a 4-in-1 entertainment unit, which symbolizes its four main functions including television, audio player, HD DVD burner/player and notebook PC. As expected from such a high-end multimedia device, the notebookâ€™s features serve the aforementioned functions well.
First off, there is a TV tuner for watching and recording digital television. But, of course, the G40Câ€™s standout feature is its HD DVD drive for watching HD DVD movies at a resolution thatâ€™s six times sharper than the standard DVD format.

The notebook is based on Intelâ€™s Centrino Duo platform. Under the hood lies a 1.8GHz Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T7100 processor, and 2GB of DDR2-533 memory to speed up your systemâ€™s performance in handling large files and different applications.
A 250GB hard drive boosts performance in handling large files which need a large storage space. All of the major wireless standards are supported, including 802.11 a/g/n standards for fast data transfer, and Bluetooth 2.0 for you to synchronize and transfer files between the PC and peripherals, such as cell phones and PDAs. 10/100/1000 Gigabit LAN is also available.
In addition, the Toshiba Qosmio has five USB ports to handle the majority of peripheral connections. A FireWire port is also included for those that wish to hook up a digital video camera or other peripherals. For external displays, the system uses the HDMI port as well as the VGA connector. An ExpressCard slot is available for expansion to a variety of peripherals.
Speaking of graphics, the Toshiba G40C-MM1 uses a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor along with 256MB of memory. This provides it with solid overall performance for 3D applications. For its audio, the Toshiba G40C-MM1 uses the Dolby Home Theater technology which delivers a high-quality audio experience. Also, the device has an integrated 2.0-megapixel webcam.
The 17-inch notebook PC supports the Wide UXGA TFT with Ultimate TruBrite screen.This said technology offers a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels for crystal clear images that display full HD content. Furthermore, G40C is fully compatible with Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. It also comes along with an electro-static two-button touchpad and 87-key Canadian Bilingual keyboard. Additionally, it is powered by a 9-cell rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which has a battery life of up to 2 hours. The device measures around 17.3-inch x 1.5 to 1.8-inch x 11.8-inch and weighs 11 lbs.
