With the stunning introduction of nVidia’s 8800 GT GPU in the market, a number of video card manufacturers have started sprouting their offerings featuring the high-performance and low-cost chipset. This makes choosing the perfect card all the more difficult, but the best rule of thumb here is to go for the one with good overclocking ability and reliability.
And you can hardly go wrong with a good brand. Well-known in the graphics card market, Palit has made a name for itself outside the US, but has finally decided to reach out to its American customers with the release of their line of video cards in North American shores, among them the Palit GeForce 8800 GT Super+1GB Video Card.
So last year, we witnessed what many described as a “Dramatic Leap Forward”, concerning affordable high-end graphics. This was brought about with the introduction of the GeForce 8800 GT cards – mean graphics at a lean price. Of course this led to a shortage of these cards, leaving an angry mob stuck with their rainy day money. It was no different for the PNY XLR8 GeForce 8800 GT 512MB PCIe 2.0 card went on sale. And why not? It gives up only a slight performance advantage to super high-end 8800 GTX and 8800 Ultra cards, but what you get for the price is nothing short of a killer product. Fortunately, stocks are backed up, including here at Tiger, so the have-nots are no longer out of the loop.
This card is faster than the 8800 GTS! They even challenging the mighty 8800 GTX.
I was also surprised after we took it out of the box. It is slim! This card is not going to cover any extra ports on your motherboard.
I will be doing a review on this card so stay tuned. It should be online Wednesday or Thursday. If you are looking for the fastest card in the price range, feel free to pick one. I am giving this a pre-review thumbs up!
