What’s new in the world of Toshiba? (Aside from the fiasco that is HD DVD, of course). Toshiba is a world-renowned leader in electronics, computers, and technology development. This year is no different: Toshiba continues to impress, especially this year at CES 2008 in Las Vegas. Sr. Editor Lonny Paul takes you through Toshiba’s booth at the annual technology event.

These guys are sure to provide you with a ton of new reasons you want to drop a few hundred dollars for a new toy. I’ve got my eye set on one or two of these already – I just wish aerial flying devices would have a longer range – being in a high-rise over a bay I could have some fun!
Beer Pong – you heard me correctly – is being played in Vegas during the week prior to CES and never expect the Internet to let you down – there are pictures, images, and even video to help better explain the event. The best part about winning the Beer Pong World Series – you win $50,000!
Are the people in Vegas bored?
Want to share your findings with the world? People attending the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show will be able to contribute their photos from the floor of CES 2008 to a Flickr Group.
This will allow people to share all of their photos with each other and share all the coolest gadgets and stuff there is in Las Vegas this January – at CES 2008!
Intel, who has reportedly been pushing hard to sell their ‘Classmate PC,’ vs the OLPC project’s AMD-based open-source system – has withdrawn from the OLPC project. According to online reports, Nicholas Negroponte, former Media Lab director at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, finally had ‘enough’ of the constant sales pressure.
After documenting the sales pressure from Intel by an OLPC client – the fight really began. ….
HD-DVD was dealt a major blow when Warner Home Video announced they were going to now exclusively use the BluRay High Definition DVD format. That was the last studio to hold out on making a choice between one and the other – and ironically, more HD-DVD players have been sold (excluding of course PS/3 sales) – yet the planned Cocktail Party and Event to be held on January 6 was cancelled.
Storage – nobody can get enough – but these days it’s the transition from standard hard drives to SSD. SSD will provide for the future of mobile devices, with it’s shock resistance features, the biggest challenge now is getting SSD up to the capacity people expect to get with a notebook.
The days of getting a notebook with a 4GB hard drive are over – today people are enjoying their complete media libraries on their laptops. I have one laptop primarily used with the television with two hard drives in it – and they are needed with media. Some SSD based notebooks have started to appear, but their lack of overall storage capacity may keep them from selling too quickly.
CES 2008 should have some of the best products we’ve never seen – and you won’t see available on TigerDirect.com or any other site or store for at least several months. According to a CNN report, the blogosphere is going crazy with their own presumptions and expectations about the upcoming Consumer Electronics Mecca.
While most are already hearing about new and innovative uses and extensions of wireless technologies, like wireless USB and wireless HDMI, Kleer being used in headsets and more – there are other things to consider.
I guess in the end we won’t know until we get there – and TigerTV and the entire TigerDirect team will take Las Vegas by storm on January 6, 2008 – make sure to check out our full CES coverage.
CES related press-releases are flying – and why not give you a sneak peek at some of the upcoming gadgets at CES 2008? Sennheiser seems to be releasing wireless earbuds – yep, two separate ear buds completely wireless.
The new product from Sennheiser utilizes Kleer technology for audio transmission and is not for use with cellular phones. While yet an uproven technology in the field, we’ll see how Sennheiser makes out with their new MX W1 earbuds.
We promise to check ‘em out in Vegas!
